Debra Ashley lives in Oklahoma and began studying art in 2005 at the University of Central Oklahoma. A desire to work in warm glass led to a concentration in metalsmithing, where she found a way to combine her love of forming metals with her love of glass, using enamels on metal. She works in mainly copper and silver. The use of enamel allows her to add the element of color in a focused and controlled manner. Debra creates work based on the symbolism of the interior and exterior expression of life events. She prefers to work with vessels or formed metal to express this symbolism.
