Christie Fleuridas Owen is an artist and graphic designer living in Oklahoma. Her art work consists of wood, steel and copper sculptures, collages, installations, paintings, drawings, and jewelry. Her art uses a diverse range of mediums to reflect a fusion of minimalist and organic themes.
She was born and raised in upsate New York and raised by a talented family of artists, photographers, jewelers and carpenters. As a child she encountered a profound affinity for visual art.
After graduating from SUNY Buffalo with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree she moved to Oklahoma in 1997 where she began her professional career as a graphic designer. Computers became her creative outlet for over a decade as she became an Advertising & Marketing Director.
Today Christie is the Vice President and Marketing Director for FRINGE (Oklahoma Women’s Art Organization.) She owns a freelance graphic design service and creates fine art as CO Art & Design. Christie also apprenticed under internationally renowned sculptor, David Phelps and teaches at Edmond Public Schools and Special Care.
Christie is currently showing in the Oklahoma Science Museum. She is also organizing and curating the first Wings of Art fundraiser to benefit Special Care, a non-profit special needs school in Oklahoma City, in collaboration with Chesapeake Energy.
